My career is already progressing thanks to my level of knowledge, and ability to implement new digital marketing approaches. Last year I was even offered a promotion, so things could not be going better!
Tell us a bit about your experience before the Digital Marketing Institute
Before starting my course last year, I had over 6 years' experience in the Marketing, Communications and Events industry. I have worked in few different industries including Sports Marketing, Conferences & Events, Retail and Medical. My career was progressing well, however I started looking for something in order to make me stand out from other professionals. It was impossible to avoid the importance of digital marketing as we evolve into a much more high tech society; we're digitally connected from a very young age and spend more and more time online.
What influenced your decision to study digital?
I undertook some research into field and could confirm that not just in Australia, but in many other countries there was a shortage of skilled professionals in this sector, resulting in great opportunities for the ones who were qualified.
Why did you choose to study the Postgraduate Diploma with the Digital Marketing Institute?
The Postgraduate diploma course was my only option as I live in Australia. It was the most suitable for me as I needed flexibility to attend the classes according to my workload. When I had narrowed my choice down to 2 final institutions,I took into consideration the response time for queries about the course (regarding the modules and assessments), the most comprehensive content, feedback from previous students and my available budget. After analyzing all of the above it was an easy decision!
Since completing the course in the Digital Marketing Institute, how has your Career progressed?
I have not yet concluded the course, however my career is already progressing thanks to my level of knowledge, and ability to implement new digital marketing approaches.Last year I was even offered a promotion, so things could not be going better!
Is there any advice you would give to new students at the Digital Marketing Institute?
Yes. Make sure you schedule specific days and times during the week to study online and take it seriously as if you were attending lessons in person. Avoid postponing or cancelling your study days for daily meetings as this will make you fall behind for the rest of the group. Print the slides and take notes as this will assist you when preparing your assignments. Chose a company that you are interested in and also allow at least 2 months to prepare your assignments. If you have questions, ask your e-learning manager and they will get back to you very soon. Most importantly…enjoy the modules and good luck!
In one word, how would you describe your time in the Digital Marketing Institute?
Productive!
